Fed up resident confronts alleged bike thief
Police were called after a Burien man confronted two men who he believed were thieves. The incident took place on the afternoon of April 22 when the man was on his way home near the Burien Annex Community Center in Burien’s Chelsea Park neighborhood. The man told police that he noticed two men that he believed to be homeless youth, pushing a high-end women’s road bicycle and began watching them. From his home the man saw the two men attempting to hide the bike behind some bushes at the Annex. He then pretended to call the police in front of the men and when they attempted to flee with the bike, he confronted them claiming they had stolen the bicycle from a local house. The two men abandoned the bike and fled the scene on foot. The Burien resident then dialed 911 and turned the bike into police along with a description of the two men. The man told responding officers that he confronted the men because his home had recently been robbed and he wants to live in a community where people look out for each other.
SeaTac man robbed at gunpoint
A SeaTac man was robbed at gunpoint upon returning to his vehicle in a parking lot near the east side of North SeaTac Park. The robbery took place just after 8 p.m. on May 13 near the intersection of 24th Avenue S. and S. 136th Street. Police arrived to find the victim waiting in the parking lot. According to the victim, three men surrounded him with a gun and demanded that he turn over his wallet, most of his clothing and a TV from his vehicle. After the men took what they wanted, they fled the scene without further incident. The victim did not believe he had any connection to the suspects but was able to offer a description to the officers.
Redbox DVD’s stolen in Burien
A technician for DVD rental vending machine company, Redbox, contacted police after finding one of their machines had been broken into. According to the technician, just before 7:30 a.m. on May 9, they arrived to the Bartell Drugs store near the intersection of 4th Avenue S.W. and S.W. 148th Street in Burien, to find that the Redbox machine outside and been pried open and several DVDs stolen. No cash was stolen due to the machine only accepting bank and credit cards.
