Officers from both the King County Sheriff’s Office and the Burien Police Department rushed to the intersection of Ambaum Boulevard S.W. and S.W. 116th Street on May 19 after reports of shots being fired. Police arrived to the intersection just after 12:15 a.m. to find a 17-year-old boy who had been shot in the chest outside of an apartment complex near Evergreen High School and Cascade Middle School. The boy was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Police are now looking for two Hispanic men who were seen fleeing the scene in a silver or gray 2000s sedan. Escaped con arrest in SeaTac
Edward Porta was arrested by officers from the King County Sheriff’s Office Wed., May 25, after a tip led to the discovery that he was in the area. Porta escaped from a federal prison in Virginia in 2008 where he had been serving a 38-month sentence for fraud and related charges. He was discovered to be at a SeaTac motel under a false name after a tip came in alerting authorities that he may be renting a room. Porta was arrested without incident after deputies lured him out by claiming there was an issue with his room. It is unclear if Porta will face additional charges for the escape or why and how long he was in the SeaTac area. Federal marshals took possession of Porta the day following the arrest.
