Woman found stabbed in Burien
According to the King County Sheriff’s Department, a woman was found stabbed in Burien. The stabbing took place around 5 p.m. on Sat., June 25. Police say that the woman was found near the intersection of S. 120th Street and Des Moines Memorial Drive. Emergency responders rushed the woman, who they believe to be around the age of 18 years old, to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in serious condition. A second woman on the scene was taken into custody by police but details around her identity and involvement have yet to be released. The victim is expected to survive the stabbing.
Police investigate possible attempted car-jacking in Burien
A Burien man dialed 911 after someone allegedly attempted to steal his vehicle just before 9 p.m. on June 17. The incident took place in the parking lot of Burien Fred Meyer store near the intersection of S.W. 142nd Street and 1st Avenue S. The victim told police that as soon as he parked his vehicle, a man opened the back passenger door and attempted to lunge head first towards him. As the man attempted to enter the car, he ran into a number of bins that were stacked in the backseat. He looked at the driver, yelled an expletive, and then pushed himself out of the vehicle and fled to the rear of the grocery store. Police searched the parking lot but were unable to locate the suspect. The driver described the alleged thief as a thin white male in his early– to mid–twenties that was dressed in grey sweat pants, a grey hoodie with a large white unspecified logo, and a grey flat brim baseball cap.
Missing Bellevue man found in Burien
A 91-year-old man who never arrived to his destination on June 19 was eventually found by police in Burien. James Harper was first reported missing around 5 p.m., over five hours after he was expected to arrive at the New Castle Library. Harper’s family called the police after he missed planned events and reported that he suffers some memory loss and that being unaccounted for is outside of his normal behavior. Bellevue Police put the missing persons report out to the County. Deputies located Harper in Burien with his vehicle around 9 p.m. on the same evening. Reports show that the man was disoriented but safe.
Police investigate shots fired near downtown Burien
Police rushed to the intersection of S.W. 156th Street and 6th Avenue S.W. after multiple reports of gunshots just after 11 a.m. on June 17. No one was found on the scene and no property damage was reported but officers were able to locate seven shell casings from a .45 caliber automatic. Police are now investigating the incident as a reckless and illegal discharge of a firearm. Police are asking anyone with information possibly pertaining to the shooting to contact the Burien Police Department.
