Last night at about 5:20, two men got into an altercation of some kind in an apartment complex. As one of the men left in his car, the other man shot at him with a shot gun. The blast blew out the window of the car and injured the man. He continued to drive and headed toward the Tukwila Police Department. On the way, he crashed into other cars on 62 Ave right outside the department.
As officers helped him, he was able to tell them about the shooting. He was sent to Harborview for treatment. Officers went to the apartment complex and contacted the suspect. Officers tried for about an hour to get him to come out. He refused to surrender and shot at officers with the shotgun. Two officers fired at him and he was hit. He succumbed to his injuries. No officers or bystanders were injured.
Detectives and the regional officer involved shooting investigation team are investigating. The officers that fired their weapons will be on paid administrative leave while the incident is investigated.
