Contest Rules
There will be three contests. The best photo of each contest will win $150 and may be featured in the Winter Issue of Burien Magazine. Photos will be judged by City staff.
Winners will be notified through their social media accounts, and then asked to provide an email address.

Awards
There are three chances to win $150 before the end of the summer! The City will announce the start of a new contest and participants will have about 2 weeks to submit their photos. There is no limit to how many photos you can submit—so snap and share as much as you like.
*Each individual is only eligible to win one prize.
Eligibility for the Prize:
- Photos must have been taken in the City of Burien and tagged with the location.
- Photos must use the #BurienSummer on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter to be eligible.
- In order to collect your award, photos must be submitted as a high resolution image. Images from a smart phone need to be shared at “actual size.”
- There is no limitation on the number of photos submitted by each participant.
- In order to be included in Burien Magazine, the City requires signed photo release forms of people whose faces are clearly seen in the photo, or their legal guardians where appropriate.
The contest ends September 4, 2017.
Terms Conditions
By participating in the contest you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these terms and conditions:
- The photograph, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the contest entrant. By entering the #BurienSummer contest, the entrant represents, acknowledges and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant, that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the photograph.
- Photos must not be obscene, lewd, inappropriate, violent, or not in keeping with the City of Burien’s image (as determined by City of Burien in its sole discretion).
- Submissions that do not meet the submission criteria set forth above, contain prohibited content, and/or are otherwise deemed by the City of Burien, in its sole discretion, to be inappropriate or obscene or not in keeping with The City of Burien’s image will not be included in the contest. The City of Burien will have no obligation to post or otherwise use any submission.
- By entering the contest, the entrant grants to the City of Burien and its authorized partners the rights to publish submitted image(s) in online and print materials (i.e. on the FilCity website, in press releases, magazines, future photography competition announcements, social media, etc.) in perpetuity without any fee or other form of compensation. Photographs will be credited whenever possible.
- The City of Burien has the right to review all submissions and to post them on the city’s website and/or social media platforms or other locations, at the City’s sole discretion. No submissions will be returned. By making a submission, entrant hereby grants permission for the submission to be posted on the City of Burien website, the Burien magazine, or other locations and otherwise used by the City of Burien in accordance with the grant of rights set forth above.
- By entering the #BurienSummer contest, the entrant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the City of Burien from any issues, losses, or actions emanating from or in relation to this contest. This would include any losses or issues related to third party claims of copyright infringement or violations of personal privacy.
- City employees cannot participate in the contest/ compete for the prize.
Mass Entries or entries generated by a script, macro, or use of automated methods will be disqualified. If for any reason the contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or other causes that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the contest, the City of Burien reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the Entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest. If canceled, the City of Burien reserves the right at its discretion to determine the winners using all non-suspect eligible entries received up to the time of cancellation. The City of Burien is not responsible for failed, partial or garbled computer transmissions, or for technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to electronic malfunction or damage of any network, hardware or software. No responsibility is assumed for: any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries; any problems or technical malfunctions of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, providers, computer equipment, or software; failure of any e-mail or electronic entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Website, or any combination thereof, including but not limited to any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation in this contest. All entries and submissions become the property of the City of Burien and will not be returned.
