A young woman and her father escaped a potentially deadly house fire in White Center Wednesday night as a rear exterior wall and a garage caught on fire, driving them from the home.
The house is located at 10429 19th Ave SW.
The young woman said, "I heard crackling outside and I thought my Dad was out there doing something but I came out and saw the house was on fire, so I yelled and got him out of the house." Calling 911 crews from North Highline Fire Department arrived quickly and applied water to the fire which did not have an immediate apparent cause. There was no barbecue involved, a common cause of fires this time of year. The rear corner, roof and garage all suffered extensive damage in the blaze.
It was not clear if the residents could stay in the home but fire investigators were headed to the scene to determine the cause and dollar value of the damage done.
