Brat Trot & Bavarian Festival

Sun., Oct. 1, 11 a.m. Highline Schools Foundation is putting on Brat Trot & Bavarian Festival. The Burien Brat Trot is a flat and fast 5K and one mile race through the streets of Burien followed by the best street party around—Bavarian Festival. This fest includes beer gardens, live bands, pretzels, sausage, beer fraus, bouncy toys, and food trucks. Bavarian Fest kicks off at 11 a.m. and runs all day. The 5K run begins at 1 p.m. followed by the 1 mile fun at 2 p.m. Information and registration for both runs is available at www.burienbrattrot.com. Protecting Yourself from Medical Harm

So you ever feel like you leave your doctor’s office with more questions than answers? Then you might want to attend this workshop put on by Consumer Reports. Consumer Reports ordinarily is thought in the context of their Consumer Reports magazine where one can find out about the quality of all sorts of products, but they also have an advocacy group. They are now taking several topical workshops to the various areas in the United States. This will be the second Protecting Yourself from Medical Harm workshop that they will have held in this state. The facilitators from CR will be coming from the Washington D.C. office. The leaders from WAPS are a local couple now retired researchers from UW who experienced a medical death in their family and chose to found WAPS for the purpose of educating the public and supporting appropriate legislation. They will share their story. The Highline Branch American Association of University Women and Burien Community Center are hosting this community event.
