Early kickoffs eluded Evergreen, sending the Wolverines on their way to a 51-6 loss to Renton in a South Puget Sound League 2A football crossover Friday.
Evergreen fell to 0-9 overall with the loss to the Indians at Highline Memorial.
Renton scored the first touchdown of the game with 8:58 to go in the first quarter on a 15-yard pass from Kaycen Parker to Talai Finau.
After a try for a two-point conversion failed the Indians went to an onside kick that succeeded.
Two plays later they scored on a 12-yard Parker pass. The ball was fumbled to Evergreen on the play in the end zone but ruled to have broke the plane for a touchdown first.
Keyhlin Majors ran for two to make it 14-0 at the 8:06 mark.
Renton then kicked deep, but the Wolverines failed to cover the ball, giving it to Renton only seven yards from paydirt.
Four plays later Majors punched it in from the 2-yard line. The kick for the extra point was blocked to leave the score at 20-0 with 7:09 to go in the first quarter.
Evergreen did return the ensuing kickoff to its own 32 -- and scored three plays later.
Spencer Brown passed to Ty'Quan Holmes for 16 yards on the first play with a personal foul call adding 15 more. Holmes ran for 36 yards on the next play before Jimmyt Leota ran for a 1-yard score.
A bad snap cost the conversion and the Wolverines still trailed 20-6 at the 6:35 mark.
Renton tacked on two points on a safety at 7:52 to go in the second quarter and Majors scored on a 2-yard run at 1:37 before the half. Kayee Song's conversion kick made it 29-6.
Terrance Meneese scored on a 30-yard run at 9:01 in the third and Song kicked the PAT. Renton picked up another safety at 2:49 and had Parker hit Amani Hill for a 29-yard TD at 1:29. Song's kick made it 45-6.
Song ran for the final touchdown at 7:28 to play in the fourth quarter, weaving his way in from 10 yards out. A run for two failed.
One Evergreen highlight in the second half that did not lead to a score was when Keano San returned the ball to the Renton 40 on a kickoff.
Michael Meslar made some defensive gems in the game for the Wolverines.
