North Hill Elementary families and neighbors learned more details about the plan for Highline High School to move to their neighborhood temporarily. North Hill community members and district staff talked about traffic, safety, after-school activities and parking concerns at a community meeting hosted at North Hill Elementary.
Forma Construction staff are currently working on the Olympic Interim School to prepare for Highline High School students coming in Fall 2018. The work includes:
- 23 new, air-conditioned portable classrooms
- Fresh paint inside and outside
- Upgrades to various systems
District staff from transportation, security, capital facilities and communications departments answered questions.

- Q&A about impacts of HHS move to Olympic Interim School
- Transition of sixth grade to middle school in fall 2019
- Future boundary changes to accommodate the new elementary school and the new middle school
HHS students will use the Olympic Interim School (19835 8th Avenue South in Des Moines) for three years while a new high school is constructed. They will attend school at the interim site from Fall 2018 to Spring 2021.
The Olympic Interim School site is being renovated to accommodate HHS with funds from the2016 bond. It served as the interim site for Mount Rainier High School and Raisbeck Aviation High School.
