To provide more dining and shopping options to meet growing passenger demands, as well as more opportunities for local businesses and workers, SeaTac airport is launching a project that will markedly change the heart of the airport -- the Central Terminal Renovation Project.
The nearly $17 million project will add 10,000 square feet of shops and restaurants to the Central Terminal, and make it accessible for all travelers by meeting ADA requirements. This renovation will accommodate the demand for dining and retail space to meet the anticipated passenger projections into the future. The second floor mezzanine will feature more retail opportunities as well as seating.
Once work is done, the Central Terminal will also feature charging stations for electronics, more family friendly seating, include elevators at the north and south end of the Terminal, as well as modernize the heating and cooling systems.
During construction, most of the Central Terminal will be closed; however passengers will still be able to purchase food from one of three temporary kiosks (Ivar’s, Pallino Pastaria and Subway). The construction also means the chairs and tables in the area will be redistributed to areas in all the concourses. Travelers are encouraged to visit shops and restaurants near their gates and enjoy their meals and conversation in the concourses, closer to the departure and arrival gates.
The project is expected to be complete in the fourth quarter of 2019.
