Highline senior Tyler Goodspeed sped to a first place preliminary finish in the 50-yard freestyle at the state Class 2A swimming and diving meet Friday.
Goodspeed posted a time of 21.65 seconds in the action at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
Goodspeed took second in the 2017 finals.

In the 4A portion of the meet, Kennedy's 200 free relay led the local performances by taking ninth in 1:29.97 to make the consolation finals.
JFK was also 12th in the 200 medley relay in 1:40.20 and 15th in the 400 free relay in 3:19.76.
Jack Fenster of Kennedy qualified 15th in the 50 free in 22.25.
Teammate Ty Lindblom just missed the consolation finals in the 100 backstroke, coming in 17th in 55.59.
Mount Rainier was 20th in the 400 free relay in 3:27.15, 21st in the 200 free relay in 1:33.57 and 24th in the 200 medley relay in 1:44.91.
Brett Jenkins of the Rams is competing in the to be completed diving competition.
The 4A swimming and diving finals start at 2:15 p.m. Saturday and the 2A gets underway at 7 p.m.
