As a Caucasian male, I am shocked at the language, innuendoes and comments made by Byron Gilbert of Burien printed in the 05/11 paper.
There is no reason to respond to someone who prints such hatred toward any race in our society. And I am further shocked that your paper gave him a means of getting his hatred printed.
I believe that Burien is a great place to work, play and live in. And all of Seattle for that matter. I grew up in Seattle, and have lived in the Sea Tac/Burien area for over 25 years. I lived right across from Evergreen High School for six years and never had a problem with what I believe is the most diverse high school population in all of King County.
To see such written venom not only espoused but printed makes me sad. In my opinion, all this does is feed the hatred of those who feel the need to kick everyone else out who is not their "favored" race, nationality, religion or other.
I feel that diversity is our strength and have worked with all minorities and majorities and also in the military where I saw a fellow soldier, not someone who is allegedly "different" from me.
