Projects Under Construction:

Utility Work – South 188th Street

Utility work to service the new Hilton Garden Hotel (currently under construction) at 3056 South 188th Street is ongoing. This work will require lane closures on South 188th Street east of International Boulevard. Appropriate notification, traffic control measures, and off-duty officers (as required) are being used to manage traffic through this work area.

12th Place and 13th Avenue South Overlay Project

The scope of this project includes pavement repair, asphalt paving, and stormwater improvements on 12th Place South and 13th Avenue South between South 200th Street and South 207th Street, and South 207th Street between 12th Place South and 14th Avenue South. Highline Water District (HWD) will be replacing all of their water lines and services within the project limits ahead of the overlay. Construction will last into the Fall.

South 166th Street Safe Routes to School Project

This Safe Routes to School grant-funded project includes construction of sidewalks, curbs and gutters, storm drainage facilities, installation of an enhanced crosswalk, pedestrian lighting, and radar speed feedback signs. Construction has begun. A partial road closure will be in place on South 166th from 37th Ave S to 34th Ave S through November, local access only.

Military Road South between South 209th Street and the I-5 Bridge; and South 200th and 26th Avenue South Intersection
This project will reconstruct Military Road South between South 209th Street and the I-5 Bridge. Work will include rubblization of the existing concrete road in place and overlaying with hot mix asphalt, construction of storm water improvements, addition of pedestrian facilities and bicycle lanes, and signal upgrades. This project also includes the grind and overlay of the intersection at South 200th Street and 26th Avenue South, installation of ADA compliant sidewalks and ramps, pedestrian signal upgrades, and signal loop detectors. Construction has begun. Expect delays and extreme congestion daily while crews are working.

Private Development

Expect traffic impacts and lane closure on Northbound International Blvd at South 173rd Street on the Hyatt Place Hotel.

Traffic impacts are continuing on 29th Avenue South at the Vintage Retirement Homes project.

Two new projects on Southbound International Boulevard near South 190th Street are the Copper River Development and the Wingate Hotel. These projects should have minimal traffic impacts.
