Information from Highline Public Schools
Do you know a child who will be 5 years old on or before August 31? Spread the word, now is the time to register for kindergarten. Highline Public Schools kindergarten enrollment for the 2019-20 school year opens January 22.
To prepare students for success on day one of kindergarten, Highline offers a number of free kindergarten readiness programs to students who register early. Register your incoming kindergartener early—as close to January 22 as possible—to gain access to free kindergarten readiness programs and materials.
PreK Play & Learn, offered February-June, is a free preschool program that provides a structured time for children to learn the skills they need to be successful in school. Additionally, Kindergarten Jump Start is offered in August to all incoming kindergarten students. It is a week-long learning experience to help incoming kindergarten students and their parents be ready to start school.
Many schools offer events in the spring. Students and their families have a chance to visit and tour their school, meet kindergarten teachers and the principal, and get information about school events.
“Early learning is very important to student success. Programs like PreK Play and Learn and Jump Start help students arrive at kindergarten with the skills they need for learning. Prepared students continue experiencing success throughout their school years and beyond,” said PreK and Elementary Success Director Anne Arnold.
