After a two year hiatus due to the pandemic Burien's Arts-A-Glow was reimagined for 2022. The festival of light for nearly a decade was previously held in Dottie Harper Park on 146th SW and 4th Ave SW but safety issues and business activation led the city and Discover Burien to expand the event to multiple locations around the community.
It appeared to work as the local restaurants were full and people came out after dark, even on a night with lower air quality due to smoke from forest fires blowing in from the east.
People dressed up in illuminated costumes and enjoyed the imaginative displays put on by artists who used lights, lasers, fabric, water vapor, puppetry, and more to celebrate the night.
