The Tigertail Restaurant and Bar opens in Ballard in early November and features small plate style menu, blending Asian-inspired techniques with fresh products from local Northwest farmers.
The owners are Carl Carlson and Tim Hayes. Carlson is the co-owner of the Sunset Tavern on Ballard Avenue.
"We want people to feel welcome in a fun, energetic setting that's comfortable, but still a bit out of the ordinary," said Carlson. Hayes added, "Tigertail will be a place where people can kick back, enjoy a very nice cocktail and a killer bite to eat, in a joint that swings!"
Chef Stacie Pike trained at the Western Culinary Institute Le Cordon Bleu Program in Portland and formerly worked at Lark and Mixtura.
A series of art shows from a diverse range of artists will accent the space and provide a vibrant atmosphere. The inaugural show (on display through November) features Hayes's collection of wild drawings by Texas cult music/art icon Daniel Johnston.
Tigertail Restaurant & Bar is located at 704 NW 65th St. and is open seven days a week from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Customers must be at least 21 years of age.
