Larry Phillips quietly made it official last Friday when he sent out an e-mail announcing he will run against longtime King County Executive Ron Sims next year.

"I am writing today to pass on the good news - www.GoForItLarry.com is up and running," Phillips message said. "This will be our venue for you to learn more about my exploratory efforts and to join our ever-expanding team. It will also provide you with opportunities to donate and volunteer, to view the latest updates about the campaign, and to provide me feedback about issues that matter most to you."

He said running for King County Executive is something "I do not take lightly, and it is support from people like you that will make all the difference. I am truly inspired by the growing number of supporters from all over King County who speak to our need for new executive leadership. Every time I hear someone tell me to "Go For It," I am encouraged by their desire for change - for a county government that responds to the needs of its people, that uses taxpayer dollars responsibly, and that strives to make King County a better place for all of us."
