Alfreida "Freida" Bancroft

November 17, 1941-June 21, 2005

Born in Galveston, Texas, Freida has been resident of West Seattle since 1974. She is survived by one daughter, three grandchildren, two sisters, four brothers, nieces, nephews and many friends. At Freida's request, no services were held.

We will greatly miss Freida. She was truly a beautiful person and everyone us that had the opportunity to have her in our lie was truly blessed.

Elsie Maude Chapman Derwin

Elsie Maude Chapman Derwin, 88, passed away on June 30, 2005, in Federal Way, Washington. Elsie was born on July 30, 1916, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. As a child she moved with her family to Victoria, B.C.; Port Angeles, Wash.; Marysville and Benicia, Calif.; settling finally in Detroit, Mich.. She graduated from Detroit's Chadsey High School in 1934. Elsie was employed for 33 years by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad in Detroit and retired in 1977. She moved to West Seattle in 1978 where she was active for many years in the Admiral Congregational United Church of Christ Women's Fellowship and Lucille Chapin Fisher Guild of Children's Medical Center. Elsie had no children and was predeceased by her husband Albert Derwin in 1976. Elsie will join Albert in the Acacia Park Cemetery, Beverley Hills, Michigan. Eleanore Ann Gonzales

Adored wife, mother and grandmother. Born September 27, 1931 in Rochester, Minn.. Passed away June 30, 2005 at Swedish Hospital. She is survived by Petronilo B. Gonzlaes her husband of 55 years; son Mario Gonzales; daughters Yolanda Coombs, Lenore Miller and Carmen Ragghianti; grandchildren John and Peter Miller of Olympia, Wash., Danielle and Jason Coombs of Eagle River, Alaska, and Angela Ragghianti of Seattle, Eleanore, a long time resident of West Seattle and dedicated state employee compassionately served needy citizens for over 20 years. Her hobbies included reading, travel, spending time with loved ones and shopping at her favorite Nordstrom. She will be remembered for her kindness, clever humor and strength of character. A Celebration of Life was held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Friday, July 8 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception and inurnment a Forest Lawn Cemetery. Funeral arrangements made by Howden-Kennedy Funeral Home of West Seattle. Remembrances in Eleanore's name may be made o American Diabetes Association.

Ethel was an inspiration to all those around her throughout her lifetime. She as spiritually, physically, mentally and socially active right up to the day her passing at the Life Care Center in West Seattle. Born in Minnesota, Ethel moved with her parents, John and Amanda Larkin, to Port Angeles when she was a small child. In 1959, Ethel moved to Seattle. Ethel loved to sing and dance. She danced until she was 98 years old and for years sang with the Columbia Melodears under the direction of Michael Harris (currently with Arts West in West Seattle). Ethel served as a volunteer with RSVP and the Columbia Melodears. Ethel was a member of the West Seattle Senior Center and she worked at the Olympic Hotel and for several priests in Port Angeles, Seattle and Federal Way as a cook and housekeeper. Ethel also worked as a nanny/housekeeper for James Nurses. She will be remembered by all her sense of humor and love of life.

Ethel is survived by daughter Shirley and husband John of West Seattle, son John Neal of Pleasant Hill, CA ad son James Neal and wife Joan of Marysville, Wash., as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren ad great-great grandchildren. The family requests, in lieu if flowers, anyone wishing to may donate to, Michael Harris in care of Arts West, California Ave. SW, Seattle, or Catholic Community Services. Mrs. Neal will be buried in Port Angeles.

Richard "Dick" Neklason

Born in Seattle November 8, 1924, passed away June 30, 2005.

1943 Graduating Class of West Seattle. Served in the U.S. Navy during World War II & Koren War as a Radio Technician.

Married Vi in 1945 and raised three sons and one daughter. Survived by nine grandchildren.

Dick retired as Irs agent after 31 years.

Dick was an avid golfer and bowler. He also enjoyed family gatherings at their beach cabin. Dick loved his Scandinavian deserts with his coffee on hand.

Friends wishing to visit with the family will be most welcome at Memorial on Saturday July 16, 2005 t Our Saviors Lutheran Church 158 South 168th Burien, at 1 p.m.

Lillian L. Anderson Snell

Born February 16, 1925 in Sacramento, California: passed away peacefully with her children at her side on June 27, 2005. She fought a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved mother to Susan Daves, David (Julie Dow) and Roger Snell. Grandmother (gram) of Alaina Nastos and Allison & Brianna Snell. Lillian was a lifelong resident of West Seattle and lived in her home (built by her family) for over 50 years. Mom attended Lafayette Grade School, Madison Junior High School and West Seattle High School. She had a long career with Pemco Insurance and was a cornerstone of the company as it grew. Lillian was respected and loved by her co-workers and peers. (Things had to be run past Lil' before approval). She enjoyed golfing, bowling and traveling. She loved to entertain and be with her friends, family and kind neighbors. Most of all, she enjoyed her precious granddaughters. Mom touched the lives of many throughout her life and never asked for anything in return. We loved her and will miss her deeply. A private service will be held for the immediate family. A celebration of her life will be held in the near future for friends and family. Lillian received the best medical care and personal attention from the Doctors and staff at Highline Medical Center.
