I'd like to say thank you to the business owners for signing the petition to "Improve Public Safety" (about under-age drinking, disorderly conduct, vandalism, loitering, harassment, littering on numerous businesses parking lots and illegal street vending in the White Center business district). And thank you to King County Sheriff Sue Rahr for responding to our concerns with a letter dated Aug. 16.
"Sheriff's Office staff has begun to put a team together with a goal of solving crime and disorder problems,"
Aug. 12, there was meeting with the King County Sheriff; they outlined, and I was told that there will be a written plan and resolution by the King County Sheriff's office.
Saturday night August 13 there were a few minor fights and two taco vendors came and parked at the corner of 16th and Roxbury Southwest. Later the same night, another vendor came and parked in front of the night club in the middle of 16th Avenue SW. Both were ordered to move by King County Sheriff, but there weren't any citations issued, even though they violated land use code.
Again, thank you Sheriff Sue Rahr. Hopefully we, together, will find a long-lasting solution to improve public safety in downtown White Center
