HAVE A TEQUILA AT THE MATADOR. A connoisseur will enjoy the wide selection at Junction's new spot. - Matthew E. Durham
Ol/! Hot happy hour specials and spicy Tex-Mex cuisine have roared like a mad bull onto the Westside scene.
Bienvenidos to the Matador West, a bustling junction restaurant and tequila bar adorned with bull heads, vibrant stained glass, and intricate wrought iron sculpture inside and out.
With beginnings in Ballard, the Matador was founded by owners Zak Melang and Nate Opper just over a year ago. After much success, the two set their sites on opening a second location and picked the heart of West Seattle for restaurant numero dos - Matador West.
"I've lived in West Seattle for six years and always wanted to open a place here," explains Opper. "And, a lot of people from West Seattle were coming to our Ballard location encouraging us to do the same."
The partners felt the area needed more options to choose from for late night food and drink, looked at the demographics, and determined that, "West Seattle was just screaming for us!"
Offering two happy hour times - from 4 to 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. - patrons can take advantage of tasty nibbles and drinks for not mucho dinero. Two people can sip a margarita each, try tacos and nachos, and walk away full for under $20.
But there's more. The Matador has an entire arena of Tex-Mex apps, entrees and 50-plus types of tequila as well - from the $5 shot of Sauza Gold to the $80 Don Julio Re
