Now that all ballots have been counted, I wish to express that great privilege it was to have offered my voice to at least 12,442 voters. Thank you voters and thank you to our founders who placed God-given and thus unalienable individual rights at the foundation of our governments.
Because these rights are so fundamental to liberty and peace. I will continue to advocate for owners of property and future owners of property, irrespective of political boundaries. Property ownership is, after all, the American Dream.
I will continue to scrutinize so-called "public" works projects so that truth is revealed. "Public servants" must tell the truth and genuinely "serve" the public before "serving" us the tax bill.
Seattle monorail will be one of history's grand examples of how the public was deceived and how utopian visions clouded our better judgment. I can't say that I feel deprived of never knowing exactly what the fare to downtown Seattle would have been - $3, $4? Many unanswered questions caused voters to reclaim a future for truth.
The same painful and utter waste of hard-won wages must not be allowed in a Seattle waterfront Big Dig tunnel whose construction would cripple commerce and job opportunities for nearly a decade.
I will continue to advocate for uninitiated self-determination by North Highline Unincorporated Area residents. Though the monorail's demise removes one impediment from North Highline's consideration of Seattle annexation, Seattle still levies the highest taxation of small business of all possible incorporation alternatives. Because Boulevard Park, White Center and all of North Highline can never flourish as welfare of charity case, taxation must be held to a minimum to attract employers and job openings.
So that this nation so "conceived in liberty" shall not perish, I will remain active. I will continue to assist youth build strong character by way of my employment in education and through my volunteer Scouting leadership. It has been said that a government capable of giving your everything you want is a government powerful enough to take everything you have.
I congratulate my opponent, Dow Constantine, for winning the confidence of November's majority and thank you for representing us with that truth in mind.
Merry Christmas to all,
John Potter
Candidate
King County Council
