Last Wednesday, Dec. 7, (the) White Center News front page photo of Mount Rainier looming above us was a beautiful sight on this clear day.

Traveling down Delridge Way towards the business district of White Center, the mountain stands so tall and proud.

Whether it's an optical illusion or not, the mountain seems so much closer, larger and beautiful from this viewing angle than any other local area.

Maybe White Center should be known as the area that the mountain shines down upon instead of all he ill-gotten press that seems to befall us.
