Metro bus riders will see numbered bays at the busy bus stops in the heart of the Junction beginning Saturday, Feb. 11.
All Metro buses on Southwest Alaska Street stop midblock between California Avenue and 44th Avenue Southwest. Metro will designate numbered bays within the existing bus stops on both sides of Alaska Street to make it easier for passengers to find the bus they want.
More bays will be designated at the bus stop on 44th Avenue north of Alaska Street.
Metro buses will keep to the same schedule and make their regular stops in the Junction, but the bay numbers will be used on timetables and maps.
New signs also are planned to better explain how to transfer from one route to another.
Metro tweaks its bus schedules and bus stops three times a year to adjust to passenger needs.
