On Wednesday, a woman was walking home just after midnight in the 5600 block of California SW, when a man came up from behind and grabbed her purse. He jerked it from her shoulder, knocking her down some cement steps. The suspect ran southbound and possibly turned onto SW Juneau. He is a black male in his 20s, and wore a black rag on his head, a gray sweatshirt with hood and gray sweatpants.
Late Wednesday evening, a similar purse snatching took place a California SW and SW Findlay, as a woman and her male friend walked southbound. In this instance, two black males in their late teens were present, but only one participated in the robbery.
Thursday afternoon, a stranger came up to a car parked in a grocery at 14th and S. Cloverdale, showed a revolver, and told the driver to hand over all his money. The suspect is a Hispanic male with short black hair, a mustache, dark clothes, and a blue knit cap.
A pizza delivery person was attacked from behind as he tried to collect money in the 6500 block of Highpoint Drive early Saturday morning. After he fell to the ground, two suspects kicked and struck him eight to ten times. They also rummaged through his car and broke his glasses before running eastbound.
After an argument in which he accused her of cheating, a man held his wife down on their bed, against her will, for an hour. He finally let her up so that she could go downstairs. But when he realized she had left the house, he ran after her and jumped on the hood of the car as she pulled out of the garage. He then got into his own car (leaving their children at home alone at 3 a.m.) and chased her on I-5. The victim called 911, and a State Patrol car was able to escort her to a safe place to spend the night.
A report of teens burning a park bench brought an officer to Lincoln Park late Sunday. Before the teens left, the officer wrote down license plates of cars parked nearby and contacted the registered owners_parents who said that their children had been driving the cars at the time. The bench had been turned over and left on top of a burning fire pit. Loss estimated at $300.
