A suspect wanted in the August 18, 2003 murder of a 14-year old West Seattle boy was arrested last week in the 2200 block of Southwest Holden Street.
The suspect had shot the victim in the 3500 block of Southwest Juneau Street multiple times and fled, successfully evading capture.
The boy was pronounced dead at Harborview Medical Center.
Seattle Police Homicide detectives received a break in the case in April 2005 when a homeowner in West Seattle discovered the murder weapon in heavy brush in the 5400 block of 40th Avenue Southwest.
Ballistics of the weapon showed that it was the same one used in the youth's murder. The handgun was linked to Demeko Brazile Holland, 23, a man considered a person of interest at the time of the murder. Once identified as the murder suspect, Holland remained a fugitive for several months.
Detectives tracked Holland to an apartment on Holden Street, where he was arrested without incident. A search warrant yielded a firearm and a sawed-off' shotgun.
Holland was booked into King County Jail for investigation of murder in addition to felony warrants for a weapons violation and escape.
