I would like to celebrate a potential loss that turned into an effort of compassion on Alki Beach. I was running on the beach with my son, Kailas, one morning, and stopped at one of the outdoor bathrooms. Being lost in thought, I mistakenly left my purse with my keys in the bathroom. About an hour later, realizing my loss, I ran to the bathroom to see if my purse was still in that location. It was not.
Then I ran up Admiral hill to my home and was so grateful to find a message on my voice machine letting me know that a woman by the name of Marie had found my purse and wanted to return it to me.
When I met Marie on Alki Beach to obtain my purse, she informed me that she lived in Sea-Tac. After finding my purse, she returned to her home in Sea-Tac to attend to one of her children. Then she returned to Alki Beach to determine how best to return the purse to me.
I am grateful and hopeful that there are many people such as Marie who visit Alki Beach. Moments such as this event meets my needs for celebration and support.
