TWO DIE ON ALKI. This is the scene last Sunday morning from Luna Park after a car with six teens, traveling south around the Duwamish Head curve careened over he seawall and into Elliott Bay. Two died at the scene and four were taken to Harborview. Top photo shows the car in the water and Alki condos behind. Middle photo is a close-up of the car in which the teens were riding. Note the missing rear wheel, found a distance away after it flew off the vehicle and nearly hit a passerby. Two young men, Roy Espiritu and Cameron Johnston, both 20, died Sunday as a result of crash in the 1200 block of Alki Avenue Southwest. According to Seattle police, Espiritu was driving with a group of five friends when the Ford Explorer they were in skidded and went over the sea wall into the waters of Elliot Bay. Both men died from drowning according to a report from the King County Medical Examiner's Office. The others in the car were taken to Harborview Medical Center. One has been discharged, while the others remain in the hospital.
The crash occurred after the group left a party on Alki Beach, shortly after 5 A.M. The vehicle was headed east at high speed, when it went out of control.
