West Seattle Rotarian Marti Anderson was in for quite a surprise when she showed up at Salty's for her club's regular Tuesday meeting. The members had baked over 100 dozen cookies for her son Lance Corporal Ian Anderson, a Marine deployed in Iraq. The goodies were shipped the same day. Marti, owner of West Seattle's Anderson Travel, says that though she sometimes gets emails from him and an occasional phone call, she was planning on keeping it a secret so that "he and his buddies can enjoy the surprise as much as she did".
The club would like to thank Don Wahl of Alki Mail and Dispatch for packing and mailing the cookies at cost. Shipping hint: place a piece of plain white bread in a zap-lock bag of cookies to help keep them fresh.
