Sivona Lingle is Miss West Seattle Hi-Yu for 2008 and Danica Tongol is the junior court queen.
Lingle is the 17-year-old daughter of Mark and Autumn Lingle and is a very active West Seattle High School senior. When school resumes in September Lingle will be Associated Student Body Vice President.
She plays varsity soccer, basketball, is a National Honor Society member and enjoys swing dancing.
At the Hiawatha Fun Festival, Hi-Yu continued festival events with the Junior Court Coronation. Five young ladies were chosen to represent West Seattle for the coming year. Judges had to make the choices from a group of 12 girls between the ages of 7 and 11. Chosen this year are Princesses Vanessa Radke, India Gants, Ally Warnke, and Leah McFadden.
The coronation evening's highlight was Lingle's creative expression performance with her dance partner Jesse Roark wowing the audience with their swing dancing. The coronation process included interviews, essay writing, event participation and the creative expression. Her sponsor was American Legion Post 160.
Now begins a full year of meetings, events, parades, community outreach and service.
After accepting the crown Queen Sivona beamed and said, "I am looking forward to representing West Seattle Hi-Yu!" Her reign doesn't end with Hi-Yu, Queen Sivona will go on to represent West Seattle Hi-Yu at the Miss Seafair Scholarship Program for Women in 2009.
Queen Sivona received the crown from 2006-2007 Queen Trisha Thompson.
