Confronted by her employer about missing funds from her grocery till (nearly $10,000 in the last eight months), a local woman confessed that she had, indeed, taken several hundred dollars a week. She was booked into King County Jail for investigation of theft.
A man was moving his elderly mom from one residence to another and offered a stranger on 16th SW $100 to help. When they got to the new residence with the items, the man and his mom decided to take a nap while the helper and his girlfriend were supposed to unload the truck. But when the man awoke, he discovered that the helpers had helped themselves to his car, debit card and keys and the mom's wallet (which contained $400, a credit card, and her Social Security card). He doesn't know the suspects' names or contact information. The male suspect is black, about 37 years old, 6 feet tall, and goes by the name of "Al." His girlfriend is white, 30-40 years old, 5 feet 1 inch tall, and 100 pounds. According to the report, she has "blondish/reddish/gray hair and no teeth."
Early Friday, an officer spotted a man hugging a telephone pole at California and Genesee. When questioned, the man dropped to the ground, crawled around, and said he was looking for a contact lens (though both lenses were already in the case). When asked his age, he answered by spelling out his last name. Four times. The officer was finally able to identify the man, whose father came to get him. Though the man didn't smell of alcohol, he admitted to his father that he had been drinking.
Around 10 p.m. Monday, near the Alaska Junction, officers spotted a driver that they knew was wanted on a no-bail felony escape warrant from the Department of Corrections. He ignored their lights and sirens and drove wildly down SW Oregon, going through red lights at both Fauntleroy and at the intersection of 35th and Avalon. The 38-year-old suspect accelerated down Avalon Way, driving up and onto the sidewalk (just missing a person waiting at a bus stop) and hitting a building in the 2900 block of Avalon. Though he tried to run from the crash, officers caught him, along with 19 grams of crack cocaine and a bag full of hydrocodone pills. The man was taken to Harborview for treatment and placed under guard. Upon release, he will be booked into King County Jail for the existing warrant and for investigation of eluding, hit and run, and drug offenses.
Just after midnight on Monday, a man was watching TV when an acquaintance (a prostitute and drug user) smashed through his locked door with a crowbar and stole his pants, wallet and ID. Officers later found the woman, and she was booked into King County Jail for investigation of burglary and robbery.
A resident called 911 when she heard a man arguing, yelling racial insults, and threatening to pull a gun. Based on her description, officers found a man near 45th and Glenn Way. He was sweating, nervous and was carrying a heavy duffle bag. He denied being armed, but the bag did contain tools commonly used in car and home break-ins. The man said he did not have a job. Officers confiscated the tools and released the man.
Seeing a car parked in the closed Don Armeni boat ramp area, officers checked on its occupant. He was wanted in Tukwila on a $5,200 warrant for theft in the third degree, so officers transported him to King County Jail.
A homeless woman who claimed to be the chief of the Seattle Police Department asked the officer at the SW Precinct desk to help her get her paycheck. She also told the desk clerk that she was a doctor and a parole officer. After a chat, she reluctantly agreed to go to Harborview for a mental health evaluation.
