In light of the recent death of a young cyclist by being run over, please everyone, watch out for bicyclists.

Not only is it the kind thing to do, it is the law.

It is illegal to pass a bicyclist if there is approaching traffic (car, bike or truck) - road dieted streets seem to be a grey area, pass with care.

It is legal for bicyclists to ride two abreast.

It is illegal for a car to honk at a bicyclist unless it is an emergency. SMC 11.84.320

A turning car or truck must yield to a through-traveling bicyclist in the bike lane at intersections.

It is illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving.

When starting from a stop sign or traffic light, don't forget to look left, then right then left again.

Most accidents happen at intersections, not the place to be talking on the phone.

I understand that some bicyclists break the laws, but that does not give drivers the right to break laws or road rage. There are bad drivers just like there are bad bicyclists, but cars and trucks can kill.
