As a West Seattle student who has been following the school board races this year with some interest, I found it troubling that candidate Steve Sundquist is displaying the logos of impartial organizations like the Municipal League and Seattle Metropolitan Elections Committee on his website ( www.sundquist4schools.com) under the headline "Steve's Endorsements Include" as if to imply that those groups are indeed supporting him.__
Since neither of those organizations, nor several others he displays in that manner, have made endorsements in his race, he should refrain from implying otherwise. Currently, the only distinction he makes between those and legitimate endorsements are disclaimers in minute text below each logo. A voter who did not examine his website closely would be led to falsely believe that he has endorsements that he patently does not.
Additionally, Sundquist continues to display the logo of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, which recently gave its sole endorsement to his opponent, Maria Ramirez. While Sundquist's webmaster may simply have been slow in removing the P-I's logo, there is simply no excuse for the misuse of other organizations' names and logos. Hopefully, Sundquist will make the changes necessary to bring his candidacy into full compliance with campaign ethics without delay.
