Pedal to metal

After flying up Admiral Way at 53 mph and nearly losing control at the viewpoint, a 20-year-old man spent nearly 20 minutes trying to elude officers early Tuesday morning. At one point, he drove 80 mph down California Avenue and onto Harbor Avenue, where "stop sticks" were set up in the street to puncture his tires. The effort was partly successful, but the driver kept going, even with a flat. The pursuit was terminated, but an officer did keep tailing the driver, who went back up onto Admiral Way, onto California and down to the Morgan Junction area. He eventually came to-literally-a "grinding" halt at 38th and Dakota, when the car's destroyed rims provided no traction on the hill. Arrested at gunpoint, he had watery, bloodshot eyes and had slurred speech. The car was stolen. He had previous arrests for auto theft and possession of stolen property. He was booked into King County Jail for investigation of auto theft, eluding, minor driving after consuming alcohol, driving with a suspended license, and hit and run of an unattended vehicle. He was also booked for violating an anti-harassment order against his younger sister. A passenger in the car, she was hostile toward officers and was booked into KCJ for auto theft and eluding. She is 18 years old. Both are West Seattle residents.
In two separate incidents Tuesday, BB shots from a passing car injured a young woman and a young man waiting for a bus at 5th South and Cloverdale. One incident occurred around 4:45 and the other closer to 5 p.m. One victim described the suspect vehicle as a black, early 80s Nissan 2-door with three Hispanic males inside. The second described a black, late 80s Honda Accord or Civic with two dark-skinned black males inside. On Wednesday, a woman reported hearing what sounded like five pellet shots directed toward her at 7th Ave. S and S Henderson. Thursday, at S. Concord and 8th Ave. S, a young man was struck by a BB or pellet shot from a red, 4-door Chevy with tinted windows.
Saturday afternoon, several drivers called to report a woman flailing her arms, dancing, and walking into traffic in South Park. An officer reports she was soaked from the rain and delusional, saying that she was either Satan or in the middle of a meeting with law-enforcement officials. She also mentioned that she was bi-polar and psychotic, so was transported to Harborview for a mental evaluation.
On Wednesday, a Metro driver reported that a man had broken three bus windows and was currently dancing in a flowerbed at 35th and Roxbury, threatening to fight passersby. Officers found the intoxicated man, who was yelling that he was a "killer." He, too, got a ride to Harborview.
