is positive
I was deeply concerned after reading the article about the School Board possibly overturning the Denny-Sealth construction plan. I am a strong supporter of the project and would be very frustrated if it were overturned. It is an innovative and exciting plan that wisely uses limited financial resources.
Some have voiced their concern about having middle and high school students on the same campus, but I feel that appropriate safeguards can be put into place to ensure the safety of everyone. There are a lot of great high school kids who could be positive role models for the younger kids. My daughter is currently in the steel drum band at Denny which is comprised of Denny and Sealth students and I believe that this exposure to older students will ease her transition into high school. The choir is also a joint venture of both schools and the music departments are sharing their resources. If the schools shared a campus, think of all the other positive ways to get the students interacting with each other.
Denny and Sealth Schools are in dire need of improvements and the voters approved this plan. I would hate to see one more thing I voted for in this city get overturned. If it is overturned, who knows if and when we'll ever see these schools upgraded. Please contact the school board members to give them your opinion.
