After pulling over a brown Ford van for a traffic infraction at Genesee and Avalon Way, officers hit the jackpot, finding two backpacks filled with high-priced electronic equipment, large sums of money (in $20 bills), a hidden compartment containing syringes and drug paraphernalia, a digital scale with heroin residue, several baggies of black tar heroin and a bag of flake cocaine and pills. The suspects, both Renton residents, were booked into King County Jail for investigation of drug charges and for an outstanding warrant.
A 46-year-old woman with a history of cocaine abuse and mental issues assaulted her grandmother in the Westwood area on Thursday. When officers arrived, they heard screaming and found the suspect standing over the victim with a claw hammer raised and ready to strike. At gunpoint, she was told to drop the weapon. Grandma was taken to the hospital for treatment. The suspect was also taken for treatment of a heart problem but will face charges upon her release.
After being bit by an unleashed German Shepherd that came bounding out of the bushes at Lincoln Park, the victim reports that the owner pulled the dog away, said he would put the dog in the car and then come exchange information. Instead, the owner drove away southbound on Fauntleroy in an 80's gray and black hatchback.
A man under Department of Corrections supervision was booked into King County Jail for investigation of harassment after twice approaching a female shopper at a High Point-area convenience store. Surveillance tape backs up her account: He cornered her, tousled her hair, grabbed her hands, asked for a kiss, and repeatedly asked her to go for a drink. The victim did not know the man and, as the officer's report states that in the video, "you can tell that the victim is intimidated and harassed." While being transported to King County Jail, the suspect threatened to punch his DOC officer in the mouth.
Officers in North Admiral received several calls about a weaving vehicle causing hit and run damage. They then received a report of the same car, but with the driver passed out at a curb. Before they arrived at the scene, the 55-year-old driver was on the road again and failed to stop for sirens and lights as he drove down the center of California Way. While one officer blocked his path at Harbor Ave., another got the suspect out of the car, noting that he could not walk without assistance. He was taken to Harborview for treatment and will be investigated for DUI and negligent driving in the first degree.
