The Washington State Department of Transportation is considering eight bundles of solutions to replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct in 2012 - and it wants to know if it is considering everything it should.
The public is invited to give their feedback at three open houses in September, hosted by the city, county and state departments of transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.
The first will be downtown, 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Plymouth Congregational Church, 1217 Sixth Avenue.
The open house in West Seattle will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16 at the Fauntleroy Church, 9140 California Ave. S.W., and in Ballard 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18, in Ballard at Leif Erikson Hall, 2245 N.W. 57th St.
Staff will bring displays and answer questions about components of the eight scenarios currently being evaluated. The public is invited to talk with staff, speak at an open mike, or write comments.
These forums are "scoping" open houses, focusing on hearing which issues are important to the public to be included in an environmental assessment of what replaces the central waterfront section of Alaskan Way Viaduct.
If you cannot attend an open house, your comments are invited:
* E-mail viaduct@wsdot.wa.gov;
* Call 1-888-AWV-LINE (1-888-298-5463); or
* Mail comments to Alaskan Way Viaduct and Seawall Replacement Program, Washington State Department of Transportation, 999 Third Ave, Suite 2424, Seattle, WA 98104-4044.
