Highline-area residents can help stop flooding in neighborhoods this fall by clearing leaves and litter from storm drains and ditches around their homes.
The Burien Public Works Department recently stated that its crews are doing "their best to keep the more than 6,000 drains clean" in the city.
But a department spokesman encouraged residents to do "a little fall cleaning of your own" by clearing away the leaves with a rake, push broom or shovel.
Burien residents who need help with a storm-drain flooding problem during normal work hours can call the Public Works Department at 206-248-5521.
For flooding problems at night or on weekends, call King County Roads Maintenance at 206-296-8100.
