Loop Highway reopens
The Mountain Loop Highway will be reopened Saturday, June 28, at noon, at Barlow Pass, reconnecting Granite Falls to Darrington for hiking and camping for the summer. This scenic byway through the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest was closed for four and a half seasons by a 100-year flood in 2003, re-opening October 2007.
Repairs were delayed by an another, more wide-spread 100-year flood in 2006.
Granite Falls, Arlington and Darrington all have special events planned for the weekend of June 28.
