Just after 2 a.m. Nov. 28, a SeaTac Police officer was responding to what he believed was a fatal traffic accident when he was involved in a fiery crash.
The officer was driving north on International Boulevard in SeaTac with his emergency lights and siren on when another car turned left in front of him and into the Denny’s parking lot in the 17200 block.
As the officer tried to avoid the other car, his patrol car veered off the road, hit two trees and rockery, then burst into flames.
The 28-year-old officer was pulled from the burning vehicle by two men who saw the crash.
He was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the other car was a 41-year-old Steilacoom woman who suffered minor injuries. The reported fatality crash to which the officer was responding turned out to be a motorist passed out in another car following yet another DUI crash.
