The Board of Burien Little Theatre wishes to thank the community for your tremendous turnout for our anniversary bash on Dec. 4 celebrating 50 years of community theater in Burien. We were delighted that such a large crowd enjoyed a look at our past, present and future, including a staged reading of two scenes from our upcoming comedy, Sylvia, by A.R. Gurney.
Sylvia, to be directed by Henry Hart, will open our exciting 2006 mini-season on Friday, Jan. 13, and run through Sunday, Jan. 29, followed by Angry Housewives from March 10 to April 2. More details will appear in the Times/News shortly before each show opens.
Reservations for Sylvia are currently being taken on the theater's phone line at 206-248-5180.
We owe the smashing success of the anniversary party to the volunteers who contributed their talents and the Burien businesses who made donations, including Gehl Flowers & Gifts, Maplewild Bakery & Cafe and Mick Kelly's Irish Pub.
We invite community members to join the behind-the-scenes magic by volunteering with us. No theatrical experience is needed to usher, help with hospitality, be a stagehand, paint or build sets, assist with publicity, sew costumes, work with props or perform computer data base input.
Experience is preferred for volunteers to run sound or lights. Volunteers also receive free tickets to shows.
To get involved, call the theater at 206-242-5180 and leave your name, phone number and type of volunteer work you would like to do.
We look forward to seeing you during our terrific 2006 mini-season.
Henry Hart, President
Burien Little Theatre
