found in Burien woods
The body of Nicole Pietz, 32, of Lynnwood, who had been missing since Jan. 28, was found in a wooded area near Des Moines Memorial Drive and South 144th Street on Feb. 6.
Pietz disappeared after leaving her home in Lynnwood to meet friends. Her husband called the police after she didn’t show up for a meeting, and didn’t go to work.
Police reports indicate Pietz was strangled and her death is being investigated as a homicide.
Her gray 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, with Washington license plate 991-TEF, hasn’t been found, detectives reported.
They believe her body was in the wooded area for about 10 days before it was discovered.
Racing causes crash
Two cars were involved in a collision in the 10400 block of 16th Ave. S.W. in White Center around 1:11 p.m. on Feb. 9.
Witnesses told an investigating King County Sheriff’s deputy that drivers of a Chevrolet Monte Carlo and a Ford Mustang were racing south on 16th when the accident occurred.
The Monte Carlo then went onto the sidewalk, hit a pole that controls streetlights, and struck a parked Acura.
The owner of the Acura, who was standing near her car at the time, was hit and fell to the ground.
She was taken to Highline Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
Two children in the car were in car seats and were not hurt.
The 18-year-old driver of the Monte Carlo was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault.
The driver of the Mustang fled the scene.
If you have any information regarding the driver of the Mustang, call the King County Sheriff’s Office at 206-296-4265.
