man wanted for killing
Markus D. Carpenter, 31, was arrested Feb. 1 in Las Vegas, Nev., on a charge of murder in connection with the 2004 shooting death of Brian Porter in Boulevard Park.
According to King County Sheriff’s Sgt. John Urquhart, Porter was at a night club in the 12400 block of Des Moines Memorial Drive on July 17 when Carpenter and Aaron Jack got into a fight with others in the club around 4 p.m.
Carpenter and Jack both pulled out handguns and began shooting. Porter was shot and died at the scene. Two other people received serious injuries.
Jack surrendered earlier and is in the King County Jail awaiting trial.
Carpenter was not identified as one of the shooters until several months later, and remained on the run until his capture.
$400,000 of meth found
A man called SeaTac police Jan. 25 to report finding some property. While an officer was investigating, the man said some other property was found that looked suspicious.
The officer found a very large quantity of methamphetamine with a street value of $400,000.
Officers hope to use fingerprints found on the packages to create further leads. They believe someone threw the packages out while driving by a site off of International Boulevard in SeaTac.
Cops prevent a rumble
Burien Police officers were called to the Burien Elks Lodge by a Kennedy High School official who reported the threat of a fight on Feb. 2 around 2:50 p.m.
Vice Principal Mike Maggert said he got a call around 2:20 p.m. from someone at West Seattle High School saying that students there were going to Kennedy High School to confront a kid named John.
Shortly after that, four cars were parked in the parking lot of Burien Elks Lodge across the street from Kennedy High School at First Avenue South and South 140th Street.
About 15 kids got out of their cars and lined the sidewalk for about 10 minutes, but they all got into their cars and drove away when the police car was spotted.
