Introducing some nice people

Meet Tammy Shenefelt, owner of Breaktime, Burien's newest restaurant. She and her husband, Rob (he works at Boeing and was not available for a picture), join a growing list of new family dine outs in the Highline area.
They have two children, Ken and Kristina, both born at Highline Hospital. Ken works helping cook breakfasts and Kristina decorated the place with wall hangings of Burien scenes painted by David Volkert.
Kris is a full time student at the University of Washington.
The full service includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. The full service lounge is redecorated also.
This long time dream of Tammy and Rob is located at 635 S.W. 152nd St., telephone 206-243-6810.
By my count this the 48th eatery (counting franchises) in Burien and Normandy Park. Des Moines-Midway has about 30. The Seattle South Web site lists 47 restaurants for Tukwila and 25 for SeaTac.
Burien has come alive as a place to eat out since the city has rebuilt Southwest. 152nd. It in the early stages of renaissance which includes new downtown condos, a plaza, a new library and city hall, a hotel and many new boutique retail outlets.
I still think serious thoughts should be given to developing the city into a destination for tourists. Perhaps designing and trading off the German heritage. Something distinctly unique that will offer some competition to the state’s largest shopping attraction five minutes away in the valley.
Meet Rose Rose.
Yes, you read it right. Rose is the bride of Charlie Rose and they live in Burien.
Elsbeth and I spotted her in Sal's having lunch and she had such a radiant smile. I asked if it was okay to take her picture.
"I smile a lot," she said. "I am a very happy woman. I am 80 and I have a great husband and 12 children, 27 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren."
Her husband, now retired, has been managing various clubs for many years and once was club manager at Rainier Golf and Country Club.
I suggested that she get the whole family together and enter the Portland Rose Festival. She smiled and said, “That might be a thorny problem."
Meet Bill Ferry.I was wandering through Fred Meyer's bulk health food section this week and spied a dapper guy with a jaunty cap on and a studious look on his face.
He was filling a jar with fresh ground peanut butter. I had never noticed a peanut butter machine so I asked him why he didn't just buy a jar of Jif or Skippy. He said this was more pure and didn't have harmful spices. It's just peanuts with some oil.He said his name is Bill Ferry, lives in SeaTac , was a retired engineer and is 75 years old.
He also said he never had a headache, never takes pills of any kind, is in perfect health and has never been in a hospital.
He attributes his health to careful diet and his faith. When I asked if his wife ate only health foods, he said he has never been married."I am a 75 year old virgin," he replied proudly. He is a born again Christian and attends Galilee Baptist Church in Kent.
