A 31-year-old Renton woman died at Harborview Medical Center on March 4 from injuries she suffered in a two-car accident shortly before 2 a.m.
Lisa Troung had to be extricated from the Honda SUV she was driving before being transported to the hospital.
The other driver, a 43-year-old woman, was admitted to Harborview with non-life threatening injuries.
Northbound lanes of Tukwila International Boulevard were blocked by the accident at the intersection with South 130th Street.
A fully marked Tukwila police car responding to the accident was struck by another car that crossed the center line in the 5600 block of South 178th Street. The driver of that vehicle was taken into custody and investigated for possible DUI.
Death threat leads to jail
A 43-year-old woman went to SeaTac Municipal Court on Feb. 28 and demanded to be seen by the judge.
When she was told her hearing date was set for March 7, the woman became hostile. As she was leaving the court, the woman commented that if she was forced to come back the judge would be killed.
Police were contacted but were unable to find her.
The next morning the woman returned to City Hall and went straight to the third floor to talk to the Legal Department. Legal staff contacted the court, which notified staff at city hall.
SeaTac detectives arrested the woman without incident. She was booked into jail and felony charges are pending.
Abusive actions in store
Des Moines police were called to Walgreen's in the 23000 block of Pacific Highway South around 4:20 a.m. March 5 after a man came in started walking up and down the aisles, removing items from shelves and throwing them on the floor.
The security officer asked if he could help in any way and the man started to yell aggressively and said the guard was racist and that he was going to eventually buy something. He then left the store yelling derogatory remarks.
He returned and was verbally abusive. When the security officer told him to leave, the man spit in his face.
When police arrived the man was waiting at a bus stop on the other side of Pacific Highway South and became aggressive again when he was questioned. They arrested him and he was booked into the Fife Jail on charges of fourth-degree assault and obstruction.
Eating while shoplifting
Des Moines police were called to the Safeway in the 21400 block of Pacific Highway South on March 3 at 9:10 a.m. when a man was reported shoplifting there.
Officers arrested him when they arrived as he walked out into the parking lot.
Several employees said he had opened a large packet of cooked meatloaf and was eating it in the store. He then walked through the store eating bulk items such as grapes and nuts while shoving multiple items into his pants.
The items in his pants and others he put in a shopping basket totaled $73.37. A records check showed he has a prior trespassing history at that Safeway.
