A bountiful crop of horticultural finds and some great buys will be featured at the third annual Bloomin Burien Plant Sale on Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The sidewalks along Southwest 152nd Street between Ambaum Boulevard Southwest and 10th Avenue Southwest in Old Burien will bloom with foliage of every sort, rain barrels, garden art and more. Plan ahead for Mother’s Day with flowers that will brighten Mom’s life and garden long beyond the holiday.

A bountiful crop of horticultural finds and some great buys will be featured at the third annual Bloomin Burien Plant Sale Friday, April 14, and Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The sidewalks along Southwest 152nd Street between Ambaum Boulevard Southwest and 10th Avenue Southwest in Olde Burien will bloom with foliage of every sort, from perennials to annuals and from the basics to the uncommon.

Sean Yates, owner of Bloomin Burien cosponsor Grassroots: Home & Garden in Olde Burien, said he will feature edible plants and unusual perennials.

Look for such gardening items as garden art and more from a wide variety of retailers along the way.

The 55-gallon rain barrels sold at last year’s plant sale were such a huge hit that Discover Burien Association, the event’s main sponsor, is offering them again. The Seattle Rain Barrels’ product features screen filters, spigots, overflow connections and lids that rebuff pests, children and pets.

Discover Burien will sell gardening merchandise at “terrific prices,””” according to executive director Debra George.

The small profits on products sold by Discover Burien will go toward the expense of sponsoring the sale. Other retailers will sell their products at their own prices during the event.

Phyllis Byers, a Discover Burien staffer with a horticultural degree, will be on hand to answer gardening questions.

Discover Burien, Prudential Northwest Realty and Grassroots are cosponsoring the sale. Discover Burien is a nonprofit organization that works on the economic development and marketing of the city.
