in drunk driving case
Vili Fualaau was sentenced on June 16 to one year in jail with all but one day suspended and ordered to pay a $2,100 fine for driving under the influence in SeaTac last Dec. 22.
Fualaau, 22, is the husband of his former sixth-grade-teacher Mary Kay Letourneau, who was convicted in 1997 for raping him when he was 12-years old.
They married in May 2005 after her release from prison.
Fualaau was pulled over by a SeaTac police officer the evening of Dec. 22 for speeding along Des Moines Memorial Drive, and was found guilty of drunk driving on April 28.
Rather than serve the one-day in jail, Fualaau can opt for the alternative of 15 days electronic home monitoring.
He will be on probation for 24 months, and should he choose jail time he must serve it in the next 60 days.
Fualaau may also have his driver license suspended for 90 days.
Airport thefts solved
Two men were arrested June 14 in connection with a series of car break-ins at Sea-Tac International Airport over Memorial Day weekend.
Port of Seattle police originally arrested three men but had to release one of them.
The two men, who remained in custody, ages 23 and 19, were arrested at their house in SeaTac where officers found stolen items from the vehicles, which were in the airport-parking garage.
More than 150 cars were damaged from the break-ins over the holiday weekend.
