Mayor on tour duty

Gardeners touring the Highline Historical Society's annual Garden Tour June 10 were delighted to find Burien Mayor Joan McGilton and SeaTac Councilwoman Terry Anderson on duty at the home of Marco Lucioni and Janis Taylor, owners of Secret Garden Statuary.

The popular event featured five of the many attractive gardens in the Highline area and this one featured the use of Greek statues and a huge fountain.

Meet Marjorie Bates

Marjorie Bates is 83, has calluses on her hands, mud on her shoes, and a glorious smile. She is an avid reader of the paper, lives in SeaTac and a daily volunteer in the Behm garden.

She has made 138 Elderhostel trips in the last 10 years. She is lively, articulate, energetic and will charm your sox off.
