Take a walk on the wild side when fire dancers, acrobats and entertainers of every stripe transform Olde Burien into a one-of-a-kind summer block party on Saturday, July 15.
From noon to midnight, the Southwest 152nd Street Block Party also features children's diversions galore, competitions to scarf the most sausage or ice cream, spectacular store specials and a $500 shopping spree.
The second annual block party is a thank you from Olde Burien merchants to their customers and the community for their support.
When Southwest 152nd Street in Olde Burien closes to vehicular traffic at noon, the party will rev up with pony rides, clowns, face painting and a fortuneteller.
After the Bubble Man mesmerizes with his soapy sleight of hand, a potpourri of amusements will unfold on the stage:
2 p.m. - The Daddios
4 p.m. - Back-n-Blue with Miss Peaches
5:30 p.m. -- Sausage-Eating and Ice Cream-Eating Contests
6 p.m. - The Pink Torpedos
8 p.m. - Drawing for $500 Olde Burien shopping spree
8 p.m. - Nelligan Tea
10 p.m. - Lake Burien Blues Band
Adults can watch the action while sipping a brew outside the Tin Room Bar and the Mark Restaurant and Bar, which are extending their outdoor dining areas to serve as beer gardens for the event.
The party centers on Southwest 152nd Street between Ambaum Boulevard Southwest and Tenth Avenue Southwest.
The Discover Burien Association is producing and sponsoring the event in conjunction with Olde Burien businesses, which are funding the event.
