In early returns, SeaTac voters are almost evenly split on the question of whether they want to raise property taxes to fund replacement of two fire stations and hire more firefighters.
As of early Wednesday morning, King County Elections recorded 604 votes yes (50.63 percent) and 589 no votes (36.99 percent) on Proposition 1 that would have lifted SeaTac's property tax levy lid.
All votes cast at polling places were counted. It is unclear how many absentee votes are in the count. King County plans to update the results at 7 p.m., Wednesday.
Proposals to maintain property tax levies in three Highline fire districts were passing easily in early returns:
King County Fire District No. 2 (Burien/Normandy Park), 1664 votes approved (63.01 percent), 977 votes rejected (36.99 percent).
North Highline Fire District, 972 approved (69.13 percent), 434 rejected (30.87 percent)
South King Fire and Rescue (Des Moines/Federal Way), 4120 approved (65.36 percent), 2184 rejected (34.64 percent)
Updated results will be in the Sept. 27 issue of the Times/News.
