Bring the little monsters to downtown Burien for some family-friendly fun, ranging from a costumed dog parade to scary storytelling, at Boo in Burien on Saturday, Oct. 28

The event, sponsored by Discover Burien Association, will take place along Southwest 152nd Street in downtown Burien. A free hayride will move event-goers along the street.

Beginning at noon, pet owners can register the family pooch for the third annual Costume Dog Parade. A registration donation of $2 is suggested. Register at Sixth Avenue Southwest and Southwest 152nd, where the parade kicks off at 1 p.m.

Each pet participating in the parade, sponsored by A Place for Pets and Good Clean Dog, will receive a goodie bag. Prizes for best dog costumes include doggie daycare packages, pet gift cards and grooming.

From noon to 2 p.m., the public can unleash their inner artist and carve a pumpkin at The Daily Perk Bakery & Cafe, 205 S.W. 152nd St., to take home.

All other activities will take place from 2 to 5 p.m.

Businesses will hand out candy to trick-or-treaters and serve up store specials.

Youngsters are invited to compete in the Kids Costume Contest at B-Town Scoop, 917 S.W. 152nd St. in Old Burien. Prizes will be awarded for the most original, scariest and cutest costumes. Among the prizes are gift certificates to B-town Scoop, Bison Creek Pizza and Goodie Gumdrops.

Contestants must register at B-Town. Winners will be chosen after the contest ends and will be contacted by phone. B-Town also will offer free samples of spiced pumpkin ice cream.

Burien Little Theatre actors will read Halloween stories for youngsters ages 2 through 11 at Burien Books, 643 S.W. 152nd St.

Test your the fear factor at the haunted house at Moss Chiropractic, 612 S.W. 152nd St. Dr. Jonna Moss and her staff, family and patients have been creating this spooky happening for approximately 13 years. While the haunted house is not gory, it is not appropriate for children ages 5 and younger, including babies.
